Selection Guide for Hydrocarbon Solvent Recovery Units

Selection Guide for Hydrocarbon Solvent Recovery Units

Four-step core method for equipment selection
Step 1: Determine the daily processing volume and match the equipment scale
This is the starting point of the selection process and directly affects equipment investment and operational efficiency. You need to first calculate the total volume of waste solvents generated daily.
Small-scale enterprises (daily waste liquid volume < 50L): Batch-type models are suitable. These devices have low investment and small footprint, such as models with a batch capacity of 20L - 80L. For instance, a 25L/batch machine with a power of approximately 3.2kW, running 1-2 batches per day is sufficient.
Medium-sized enterprises (with daily waste liquid volume ranging from 50 to 500 liters): They can either choose batch-type equipment (such as models with a batch capacity of 80L to 200L), or consider continuous-type equipment. Continuous-type equipment can achieve uninterrupted operation of "in with waste, out with new", making it more suitable for large-scale treatment.
Large enterprises (daily waste liquid volume > 500L): Continuous or large-scale vacuum distillation systems must be considered to meet the high-intensity processing demands. For instance, equipment with a processing capacity of 100L/h - 400L/h should be taken into account.

Step 2: Analyze the solvent characteristics to ensure the feasibility of the process
This is crucial for guaranteeing the recovery effect and equipment safety, and must not be taken lightly.
Solvent chemical properties: First, you need to confirm whether your waste solvent is suitable for recycling. The vast majority of hydrocarbon, alcohol, ester, and ketone solvents are applicable. However, it is strictly prohibited to recycle solvents containing strong acids, strong bases, nitrocellulose (nitro), or those that have strong corrosiveness to stainless steel, as this can corrode equipment and even cause explosions.
Solvent Boiling Point and Volatility:
For conventional boiling point solvents: Select a model with PID program control. It can precisely control the heating temperature and achieve segmented recovery of single or mixed solvents.
High boiling point or volatile solvents: It is strongly recommended to choose a model with vacuum and pressure reduction functions. Vacuum can significantly lower the boiling point of solvents (for example, hydrocarbon solvents with a boiling point of over 140℃ at normal pressure can boil at below 80℃ under vacuum), not only saving energy by 30% to 50%, but also preventing high-temperature decomposition and enhancing safety.
